An article review is written for an audience who is knowledgeable in the subject matter instead of a general audience. When writing an article review, you will summarise the main ideas, arguments, positions, and findings, and then critique the article’s contributions to the field and overall effectiveness. B. Show evidence that you have not only understood the topic of the articles, but you can evaluate the article about the knowledge you have acquired through the course (other readings, tutorials and lectures) C. Elements in an excellent critical article review i. Citation: tells the reader which article you are reviewing and provides referencing details ii. Overview: summarises for the reader the main points and goals of the article iii. Overview of critical assessment: tells the reader about your overall assessment of the article in particular regarding ‘significance’ and ‘accessibility.’ 2 iv. Summary of the methodological approach v. Evaluation of the originality, rigour and credibility of the methodological approach vi. Summar(ies) for the reader the findings of the study vii. Evaluation of the validity and significance of the findings viii. Summary of evaluations made in the review stage regarding your evaluation of each above aspect ix. Overall assessment: What is your overall assessment of the article? 3. SUGGESTIONS A. Select two articles related to one of the lectures of the course. i. For instance one of the articles can be what you have read for your tutorial and another article of your choice. ii. Be careful what articles you may select since you can make your life easy or difficult. So select articles that you understand fully and are easy to compare and contrast iii.
