Here are some information on the topic, Culture:
Introduction: what is culture?
Here at Central Saint Martins you study ‘Cultural Studies’ as part of your degree. What is culture, and what is the discipline of cultural studies? Both terms suggest an interest in the symbolic forms of life, and in complex disciplines (art, fashion, literature) in which both aesthetics and values play an important role. This lecture will investigate some of the origins of contemporary thinking about culture and cultural studies, introducing the relationship between ‘high’ culture and ‘popular’ culture, and the impact of cultural contexts on thinking about fashion, textiles and jewellery.
