Introduction
Consider the prevalence of probability in your daily life. How does knowing the

likelihood of something
occurring affect how you make daily decisions? Probability falls under a larger

category called
inferential statistics. In most professions, including those in the field of

psychology, being able to make
accurate inferences from data allows for improved and effective practices.
This week you will continue to investigate samples, populations, variables, and

frequency distributions. You
also begin to incorporate new concepts such as probability, hypothesis testing, z

scores, and significance of
results by looking at drug safety scenarios.
Objectives
Students will:
Apply probability concepts
Identify independent and dependent variables
Generate hypotheses
Evaluate significance of results
Analyze the relationship between z scores and standard deviation
Apply statistical concepts related to inferential statistics
