THE SONG AND A LITTLE HISTORY OF THE WRITER:
The song black no. 1 is by Type O Negative. The Lyrics are written by Peter Steele vocalist/bass player of Type O Negative.
His history of song writing dates back to his old thrash/ hardcore band Carnivore from the 80’s and he wrote lyrics for Roger Merit of Agnostic Front.
His writing style is very dramatic, and he uses a lot of dark sarcasm to persuade his main idea.
He rolls his R’s frequently, and his thick Brooklyn polish/Russian accent
The song black no. 1 is about the type of hair dye that people use to die their hair to fit in the gothic scene. The song takes a dramatic sarcastic way of making fun of those type of people, but a lot of listeners have no clue what the song is about.
The song has a spooky theme, and Peter Steele’s deep mono voice combined with his low tuned distorted bass makes the band sound exactly like how they all look. They all look like the lost boys of Brooklyn, New York. Because of the album bloody kisses, a lot of fans thought that they were trying to be vampires. However, this was not the case.
This essay needs to analyze the song as if you were analyzing poetry. example, imagery, sound, rhythm, and tone of the writer
