Identify a specific contemporary social issue of interest (such as the global financial crisis, asylum seekers, same-sex marriage, changing patterns of partnership and family formation, single parents and welfare, unemployment, climate change etc.). Research the coverage of the social issue in the media (print, radio and /or TV) and locate current or recent media reporting on this issue. Select excerpts from the identified media reports as the basis for the case study.

Write a case study on the identified issue, from two of the following social theory perspectives:

Theories of late and post modernity

Feminist theory

Social theories of sexuality

Individualization theory

Post-colonial theory

Globalisation theory

Compare and contrast the explanations for the social issue provided by the two perspectives you have selected.
