Sappho's poems
- Explicate one of Sappho’s poems completely, remembering that in an explication you cannot use the same word as the original–you must restate–put the idea in your own words. If you do use the same word from the original line, it will count as one error, not counting interpretation or compositional errors.. Follow this format:
O: original line
I: your interpreted line
- Choose one of the poems in the text and write a paragraph summary of it, making sure to put in quotation marks any original, significant word from the original to avoid plagiarism. After you have written the summary, write another paragraph in which you compare/contrast your summary and th original poem, citing which is the better of the two and why.
