A. How has the changing economic structure of the American film industry affected the making of films and the types of films made (e.g., decline of the studio system, contrasts between the l940s and l980s, etc.).

B. Discuss how censorship changed and affected the content of Hollywood films in the decades of the 1930s, 1950s, and today.

C. Compare and contrast how American political figures are represented in any two decades or periods of the 20th century (e.g., 1930s and 1980s, 1940s and 1960s, 1950s and 1990s). For instance, compare whether they are disreputable or “savior” figures.  Be sure to cite specific films.

D. Discuss the impact of television on the film industry and the ways in which movies were changed in content and style.

E. How are the changing political circumstances and moods in America reflected in popular political films of different periods? Compare and contrast two different decades (e.g., l930s and l980s, or 1940s and l960s, or 1960s and 2010s). Note: you should include a brief background of political developments, and then cite specific films of the period to back up your argument about what is reflected).

F. Discuss the impact of technology currently (e.g., CGI and social media) on the film industry and the ways in which movies were changed in content and style.
