Old Testament: Theological Research Paper on Circumcision

Discuss the origin, function and significance of circumcision in the Old Testament. Be sure to include a discussion of (MUST):

1. Where and why circumcision was practice in the Ancient Near East (ANE)
2. The meaning and significance of circumcision in Genesis 17; especially discuss the description of circumcision as a ‘sign’
3. The question of why circumcision is extended to all of Abraham’s family and servants;
4. A summary of other texts in the Old Testament where circumcision is mentioned, and its significance in such texts.
