FIND 1 MACRO TREND AND ANSWER THE 3 QUESTIONs

• In preparation for deciding on the macro trend concept that you will use to shape your final project, this homework is an exercise in researching and understanding the influences behind the current macro trends, as well as researching the various Forecast resources available
• For this assignment, you need to reference at least one Trend Forecast book (not online database), from our variety of subscription-services. (This is a minimum….you may visit more!)
• Access reports on trend stories for next year; you may choose Spring/Summer, or Fall/Winter. The trend stories will have different names, but there will be correspondence between the various forecasts, in terms of trend message. Identify the distinctive themes presented for the season you’ve chosen. Focus on Macro Trends, not trend themes that are already broken down into a fashion look. Focus on the following three points, from the perspective of the trend theme you read about.
1. Identify the trend name, and give a brief description of the message behind this trend. Explain why you think they are presenting this trend; what are the zeitgeist influences behind this trend?
2. Describe the target market that this trend theme would apply to. (You don’t necessarily need to talk about an age range; it could be more of a ‘mindset’ that would bond people to this trend.)
3. How might this theme relate to product categories and price-points?

• Type your answers on a paper to be turned in next week
• Include a Works Cited page to properly document your research. Cite the name of the forecast book and season you viewed.
