Each student must collect and critically examine an aspect of international tourism reported in the media
over the last 6 months, i.e., from a newspaper, magazine or, on a website. The media item should report
on news from the Asia Pacific region.
Your critical examination should:
 Briefly summarise the main points of the article.
 Suggest which aspects of international tourism are revealed by the article, e.g., the impact of a
terrorist attack on international tourism; climate change and international tourism; new
developments in the international airline industry, etc.
 Provide a reference for the media article.
Students can use the Factiva electronic newspaper database held on the La Trobe University library
catalogue which provides access to thousands of newspaper articles.
