Contract administration &Specification

Your company has been appointed as consultants to prepare and compile a specification (contract documents) for tender.

1. You are required to ‘Mark Up’ and complete a set of the Preliminaries Section for your specification (contract documents). This will include all information and details required to ensure the tender documents are to such a standard that they may be ‘sent out’ for tender including correct contract type. You are to assume the works you describe are in relation to a higher education building that is in full use and operating to its capacity and to a recognised educational time table.

2. You are required to specify three (3) elements for inclusion in a traditional specification for the project (your specific room). The three elements are to be associated with a teaching room within the university campus. The three elements are;
A. The internal face of all walls must be decorated;
B. Existing floor coverings require removal and new floor coverings laid/installed;
C. The existing suspended ceilings must be removed and replaced with a new suspended ceiling system including new lighting.
3. The client has advised that there is a possibility that asbestos is present in the ceiling voids above the existing suspended ceilings – you are required to include a clause for this in your specification.
4. The specification must include for the following:
a) At least three contingency sums;
b) At least two Prime Cost sum
c) Provisional sums/works relevant to two or more of the above elements at 2(A)(B)(C);
5. You are required to maintain a design and concept ‘trail’ – this means any notes on or concerning design considerations or questions to the client and any/all relevant info
