Comparative Research Essay on two Canadian Postmodern authors

term paper/comparative research essay for my Canadian Postmodern literature class. The instructions ask students to: “Focus on two writers’ novels and pursue a topic of interest to you. You should use secondary sources and theory as a context for your argument, and treat both creative texts equally in the course of the essay.” Nicole Brossard’s Mauve Desert and Leonard Cohen’s Beautiful Losers. The comparative research essay should focus on translation and/or the task of the translator in both books. The paper should also comment on the significance of these 2 authors/novels to the postmodern Canadian literature canon (i.e. what about translation in these books make them postmodern/ I will attach three scholarly articles that are about translation – the first one is on Cohen’s Beautiful Losers, the second one is on Nicole Brossard’s Mauve Desert and the final author (Sylvia Soderlind) compares Beautiful Losers and Mauve Desert.. Please use these articles in the comparative research essay (and ensure that you use at least 10 sources for the Works Cited page. Use in text citations (MLA) to give credit to the secondary source research and theory that you incorporate. In addition to analyzing ‘translation’ in both novels, theory must also be integrated into the essay. Authors including Linda Hutcheon (and her texts, A Poetics of Postmodernism, The Canadian Postmodern, Splitting Images: Contemporary Canadian Ironies), Brian McHale’s Constructing Postmodernism, and Frank Davey’s Canadian Literary Power, should be included in the comparative essay.
