Biochemical analysis of Nitric Oxide metabolites

In this project I will aim to first gain proficiency in carrying out techniques for measuring biochemical metabolites of Nitric Oxide (NO). The techniques are 1. Measurement of nitrite, and 2. Measurement of nitrate. These assays both depend on the chemical reduction of nitrite or nitrate back to free NO and then detection of the NO produced. Initially, the studies will establish intra and inter assay variation. Having achieved this, I will progress to measuring these levels in human plasma samples collected in different days. I will measure all samples once every week to detect if there is any effectiveness of the time.
