Autism and Epilepsy

This paper is a term paper for my “field work” class. I recently worked as a research assistant in psychiatry department in the hospital. I need to write a paper discussing theoretical issues that are related to my research experience, bolstered by a review of related research from psychological literature.

The research I did was interested in learning how genetic changes can affect brain development that leads to autism and epilepsy. The study examine similarities and differences in the genes of people with autism and epilepsy and their family. These disorders can co-occur in the same family or the same person, suggesting that the may be caused by similar and related genetic changes. Therefore, the researchers want to know the biological basis of these disorders by mapping out both shared and distinct genetic changes.

The paper should include:
– Describe what these two disorders are. autism epilepsy
– Discuss the relationship between these two disorders (how they cooccur, coexist for some patients) (prevalence)
– Describe several ongoing researches examining the genetic cause (biological cause) and psychological cause of these two disorders
-Argue the causes of autism and epilepsy according to the researches
