1. You will write a 3-5 page essay that applies select ideas and theories from our course readings to an outside performance of your choosing.
2. Select means that you may choose the framework that is of interest to you. Maybe you only want to talk about affect? Maybe you’re curious about audience? Fired up about race? Maybe your point exists at the intersection… it’s all fine!
3. You must analyze a performance from outside of The Theatre school. What you determine to be “performance” may vary – it is fine to choose something that isn’t “theater,” but you will have some work to do in your paper to connect it to course ideas.
4. A goal of this paper is to demonstrate knowledge – Did you read the books? Pay attention to our performance examples?- but as always, I am most interested in argument. Make one!
5. I am happy to read your papers in advance of the deadline. First come, first served.
