The ending of the Aeneid has long puzzled people. Using the last page of the book, write an essay, beginning with the final scene between Aeneas and Turnus, but also selecting material from earlier in the book, and make a case for what is Virgil saying to and about the Augustan empire. In other words, what does the ending tell us about the way Virgil views the new Augustan empire?
