Statistics
In either Word or Excel, you are to create a report with the results of an
experiment. The experiment involves a container holding 10 chips. The chips are
numbered from 1 to 10.
Perform the following experiment:
Randomly select a chip from the container. Record the number on the chip in a
table, and return the chip to the container prior to the next drawing. You must
complete 15 drawings.
Construct a bar graph and probability distribution of your experiment.
Interpret the results of this experiment, answering the following questions:
What are the random variables for your experiment? Explain the meaning of your
random variables.
Do you believe that the results of your experiment are discrete or continuous?
Explain.
Is your experiment a discrete probability distribution? In other words, are all
conditions of a probability distribution satisfied? Explain.
Is your experiment a binomial probability distribution? Explain if all conditions
are met or not.
The chip experiment only qualifies as discrete or binomial. Provide an example of
the type of distribution you indicated the chip experiment did not meet. For
example, if you claimed the chip experiment did not meet the conditions of a
discrete probability distribution, then you would provide an experiment that would
be a discrete probability distribution. You do not need to perform the experiment,
but you must explain how the conditions are all met.
