EDUC 1300: Learning Framework
Instructions for Group Presentation
Your group will choose an issue with an underlying ethical dilemma suitable for the “rational
decision making process” as outlined in the text. You will receive instructor approval and
then your group will work together through the steps for Rational Decision Making, as
explained in Chapter 14.
Define the Matter: What is the issue/dilemma to be addressed?
Frame Alternatives: What are the possible courses of action to take? Consider all possible
alternatives.
Gathering Information: Look at facts, statistics, historical trends and available data.
Carefully evaluate your sources (what is the authority of these sources) according to the
guidelines given in Chapter 16. What information is relevant and reliable to each of your
alternatives?
Assess Advisability on Information: What is the relative advisability of alternatives
based on evaluated arguments?
• Formulate arguments (on all sides)
• Evaluate arguments (what will work/not)
• Assess advisability of arguments
Decide: Make a decision that is ethical and all can live with.
Remember this process should be reflected in the group’s class Power Point presentation,
which, together with each student’s individual work, will be evaluated according to the rubric
provided. Make sure you read and refer to the above mentioned chapters, and the rubric, in
order to organize your presentation adequately. You will also need to evaluate your other
group members in the sheet provided, at the end of the process, after presenting.
Presentation Time Limit will be 15 – 20 minutes for each group.
Place an order in 3 easy steps. Takes less than 5 mins.
