This isa team assignment, I only require the following portion to be completed:

Scenario:  Introduction:

The future of Syria is unknown because of the conflict in the area. An organization of extremist are leading a revolt against all countries in the area. This organization goes by many names: The Islamic State (IS), Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and the Arabic acronym Da’ish. As policy makers, the United Nations need to do more, because it seems that their current impact on the area is not a positive one.

Prepare a  2 to 3-slide presentation with detailed speaker notes and a seperate 450- to 600-word policy brief. The brief will directed to the State Depatment.

Include the following:

Major Point 3: Pros and Cons of the solution chosen. Why is it better than the alternative?

-Economic sanctions and efforts not working.

-Military action likely only viable option.  However, cannot be unilateral, must involve others including                               those in region (legitimacy).

-Regional strategy may help prevent resurgence/return/new incarnation. (Katulis, 2015)

Be sure to use a minimum of two peer-reviewed references as research for your presentation and brief.
