Two
Media and the City Project Brief
The focus of the second part of 260MC is to explore
how the contemporary media landscape has been
shaped and informed by the city. This includes, but
is not limited to, technological and socio-cultural
change, art, politics, activism, economics,
philosophy and cinema, and the impact this is
having on media content, platforms and media
producers.
Over the course of this module you will be
developing a research archive based around a city
of your choice. This research archive will inform
and shape a Korsakow multi-media project in
response to your chosen city.
Assessment
You will need to keep a record of your research and
development on your blog over the course of this
module.
You are expected to spend 200 hours working
towards this assignment. This includes the
scheduled teaching and class activity as well as
your own research, development and writing-up
time.
There are 2 components to hand in for this project:
1. Research Archive collated on your blog. This
will demonstrate your creative and critical
research and development in response to your
chosen city. This can include, but is not limited
to;
o Scholarly journal articles, books, and
edited collections.
o Visits to Galleries
o Archives and documentation
o Films
o Art work
o Interviews
Research Archive to be submitted via Turnitin.
2. Your Korsakow Multimedia Project (this can
include video, photography, text, sound and
more)
Korsakow project to be submitted at reception.
You must also include a list of references.
Ensure that the assignment is referenced
correctly using the Harvard referencing system
Marking/Grading
Please refer to CSAD Writing-Based and Practice
Based Assessment Criteria available on Moodle, for
information about the grading of this assignment.
Other information
You will receive formative and summative feedback
for the work you produce.
You will present your research to the class during
the module, for which you will receive an indicative
grade and feedback including areas for
improvement.
You will also receive feedback during regular group
tutorials. Tutorial attendance is mandatory.
This assignment is about getting you to develop
your conceptual, contextual, craft and research
abilities in media production so the work
produced must be produced to the highest possible
quality.
Coursework Submission
Coursework is to be submitted on 6th March 2015
via Turnitin in Moodle AND via Reception.
