In the years since the Virginia Tech killings, many reports have been produced at the federal, state, local, and university level. Campus security policies and procedures changed nation-wide. Of particular importance is the analysis of the role of professors, administrators and mental health professionals on a campus in dealing with conflict. Confidentiality in mental health treatment, the right to bear arms on a campus, reporting to law enforcement, and many other important issues are topics of conversation on campuses. As educational leaders, it is imperative that we study and learn from such horrifying situations. We pray that such an incident will never occur on our watch.
