TV’s Frisky Family Values.

In his article “TV’s Frisky Family Values”  Jim Impoco begins with two bold claims. He first states that “there is more sex and sex talk than ever and Americans fear the consequences.” He then follows with the claim that “the reality is that television teaches lessons aplenty—about sex, marriage, relationships, law and order and decency.” As an expert in communication, your task is to evaluate his claims and the study he reports.

Using the concepts discussed in class and from the reading, answer the following questions.

1. In chapter 1 Babbie discusses many Faults in Everyday Reasoning. Identify and explain two of these problems that Impoco demonstrates. How could these be avoided?

6. As an expert in communication, would you use the findings from Impoco’s study as a basis for providing expert advice to a policy organization concerned with family values? Why or why not?
