The most intriguing leader

The most intriguing leader

The Most Intriguing Leader Instructions: Which leader is the most intriguing to you? This assignment is about this leader. Name your most intriguing leader. He/She can be anyone that fits the text’s definition of what a leader is. ( leave religious figures out of this round.) Make a statement about why he/she intrigues you. Study this leader, through the lenses of the theories you have learned this summer. (Major theories to consider would be those in motivation (chapter 3), contingency (chapter 4), and exchange (chapters 7 &8). Pick at least 3 theories that you think are the most descriptive of this leader. Research this leader, from the perspectives of the practices you have come across this summer. (Major applications of leadership theories can be found in influencing (chapter 5) and communication (chapter 6). Pick at least 3 skills that you think this leader does excel in. Come up with a list of at least 18 but no more than 24 questions (in addition to demographics) that you believe will help you find out whether the 3 theories fit the leader’s style and whether the 3 skills are what the leader is good at. Use information in the related chapters to develop these questions. Try to avoid yes/no questions as this type of questions tend to lead your interviewee to one answer over the other. Using the 18-24 questions you have developed, conduct a structured interview with 10 adults. Be sure to get some demographic information from your interviewees (e.g. age, education level, position, and anything else you think is relevant). You can use parents and relatives, leaders on campus, leaders from where you work, etc. but just make sure these are adults over the age of 19. What did you find from your interviewees? Did their answers to your questions match what you think of the leader? You will then summarize and discuss your findings.
