Assignment:

Some heroes are recognized as important figures for popularizing sports. Until fairly recently, most sport heroes have been men. Now, however, there are many accomplished world-class, female athletes who serve as heroes to both boys and girls.

For the discussion, choose a female athlete whom you consider to be a hero and tell us why you think that way. Before posting, do a little research to find out more about this athlete.
