Snow White wants to know what she should do about Sneezy. She isn’t sure how to handle his time off from work. Does she have to grant him this time off, or can she tell him he has taken too much and has to come back?

  1. Doc

The first, Doc, stated that he is taking some time off to have a series of medical procedures he has been wanting for some time. He has been talking about this for the past two years to all of his coworkers, and is really excited about it. He had consulted a plastic surgeon who promised Doc he could make him look exactly like Prince Charming! He will need several consecutive elective surgeries, and these will take a total of 10 weeks, plus 2 weeks of rest at home. He has brought Snow White the FMLA paperwork.

Snow White is not sure what she should do with this. Doc has been a good

employee for several years who never takes any time off. But she thinks this time

off is a bit excessive, and wants to know whether she has some options for

denying the time off or if she should just grant it.

  1. Sneezy

A second employee, Sneezy, was coming to work last week sounding and looking worse each day. He had a really runny nose, was coughing and sneezing a lot, and was sweating a great deal. He was overheard saying he has a fever, chills, and body aches. Snow White thought he might have had a bad cold or the flu, so she let him stay home all week this week to recover. Then, as the week came to a close, she got a phone call from Sneezy that he was admitted in the hospital with a serious infection that would require a stay in the hospital for a week of treatment, and some additional time for rest and recovery. Shortly thereafter, Sneezy’s doctor sends over a note recommending that he be out of work for about a month, but then he can come back on a part-time schedule for two weeks, before resuming his regular duties. Sneezy is one of Magic Mirror’s best drivers, and Snow White is worried about the deliveries being made in his absence. While Snow White feels bad for him and his situation, she had already given him 3 months of leave to take care of his sick mother earlier this same year.

Snow White wants to know what she should do about Sneezy. She isn’t sure how

to handle his time off from work. Does she have to grant him this time off, or can

she tell him he has taken too much and has to come back? Other employees are

complaining that it’s not fair that he’s been out so much and that they have had to

do his work.
