Rhetorical Analysis

And here are points to be addressed:
Final paper (a cohesive introduction, body, and conclusion), one to two pages in length (900-1200 words), single-spaced. Your paper should include a creative and appropriate title (not the same as the article’s title) and the article’s citation.
Do not lose sight of the goals of this assignment. The focus of your paper is not the subject presented by the author, rather it is to discuss how effectively the author communicates with their audience on a subject.
Though the use of appeals is important in writing, it is not the only tool that authors use. Further, students often refer to the terms logos, ethos, and pathos, improperly. If you are going to discuss an author’s use of appeals, be sure that you understand what each appeal means and how to use those terms correctly in your writing.
Finally, the paper you are writing is a formal work, which should be edited and free of spelling, punctuation, and other grammatical errors. Be wary of using overly casual language and abbreviations (for example, et cetera) — two things that may make your paper appear unpolished.
Title appropriately describes the paper’s content.
Introduction. Article and relevant information are introduced. Student’s thesis is clear and concise.
Body. Student presents two to three rhetorical strategies employed by the article. Each strategy has its own paragraph (or two) and at least two supporting pieces of evidence. All paragraphs flow logically together.
Conclusion. Student summarizes the information presented in the paper in a clear and concise manner and reflects on the author’s success in using said rhetorical strategies.
References to the primary article and any other sources used are provided at the end and properly cited within the paper’s text.

Paper’s content demonstrates an excellent understanding of rhetoric and the author’s use of rhetoric.
Paper topic and line of argument are very well laid-out and is easily discernable.
Focus remains clear.
Easy to read and understand and well-organized.
Paper is concise but not choppy (flow was smooth throughout entire paper).
Paper demonstrates original thinking.
Correct spelling and grammar used throughout assignment.
All citations are appropriate and correctly constructed where necessary.
