Weekly Blog Responses Instructions
DUE:
May 24 three responses for Chapters 1-4
May 31 three responses for Chapters 5-8
June 7 three responses for Chapters 9-12
All by 11:59 pm

Every chapter from your Floyd textbook has an outline and PowerPoint slideshow posted in the corresponding Weekly folder – then each individual chapter folder.  At the end of the PowerPoint slideshow for each chapter is a slide entitled “Application” with three questions that are relevant to material from that chapter.

For Chapters 1-4, 5-8, & 9-12 you are to pick ONE of the three questions for THREE of the four chapters and write a response to each of the questions in AT LEAST 500 words (minimum) to be eligible to receive credit for that week (giving you a total of three responses for each week). This means you will write 3 responses each week that are at least 500-words each, for a minimum of 1500 words total.

Set-up of your weekly response blog posts:

•    Write your response using material from the textbook and your own personal experiences.
•    Each response must have at least 2 APA citations, either paraphrased or directly quoted from the Floyd text. See the Standards for Acceptable Submission document for assistance with APA format.
•    All responses MUST have a heading above the typed response that details what Chapter they cover and what question they are answering or you will lose points.
o    Ex.) Chapter 1: What communication behaviors do you consider ethical or unethical?
•    Use the Subject of the Blog to indicate which chapter you are responding to
o    Ex.) Chapter 1 Post
•    Must meet the Dept. of Communication’s Standards for Acceptable Submissions (available under Course Documents) in order to be eligible for a grade – meaning the posts need to be proofread, have proper APA formatting, and free of plagiarism.

To Post your Weekly Blogs

1)    Click on ‘Weekly Units’ content area
2)    Click on the Week that you wish to complete the reflection for -this will take you to the correct blog. You should not use the same Blog Tool that we used for your Wiki Posts to post your weekly posts, there is a separate blog for each weekly reflection so that I may grade each one individually and provide you with immediate feedback.
3)    On the right-hand side of the screen is the ‘Actions’ menu – click on ‘New Entry’ and begin your post.
4)    Type your blog post and hit save.
a.    I would STRONGLY suggest writing your blogs into a word processing document, saving it, and then cutting and pasting the post into your blog.

Things to keep in mind

•    Each answer for the chapter needs to be at least 500-words to be eligible for full credit
•    Including the application question in your response DOES NOT count toward your 500 -word minimum requirement.
•    Be sure to reference to material from the text in order to receive the highest grade for the assignment.
•    Use APA format when needed.  Read the Standards for Acceptable Submissions for how to format your in-text citations and Works Cited page.
•    All posts are expected to be proof-read and therefore be free of grammatical and spelling errors.  Points will be deducted for posts that fail to cite material from the text and/or are full of spelling or grammatical errors.
