9.2 Assignment: Program Outcome 2

This is a two-part assignment. You must investigate a current unmanned systems research problem and identify an occupational safety and health research problem. After you have investigated these two topics you must draft one to two paragraphs as to how your data collection and analysis meets the expectations of the Program Outcome by addressing each key word. For each highlighted word, provide a two to three sentence explanation of how you are showing competence in each expectation.
Program Outcome 2 reads: Fundamentals of Statistical Analysis in Aviation and Aerospace. The student will be able to identify and apply appropriate statistical analysis, to include techniques in data collection, review, critique, interpretation, and inference in the aviation and aerospace industry.

Note the bolded key words. Each of these “sub aspects” of the Program Outcome must be addressed in your 691 capstone proposal as well as the final capstone project/comprehensive exam. Draft one to two paragraphs as to how your data collection and analysis meets the expectations of the Program Outcome by addressing each key word. For each highlighted word, provide a two to three sentence explanation of how you are showing competence in each expectation.

As an important note, notice that the Program Outcome uses the word “inference.” This means students are expected to conduct inferential statistics (one of the tests you learned in this course) rather than only descriptive statistics (simple mean, median, mode, histograms, etc.) to successfully show competence in Program Outcome 2. Certainly include descriptives in your discussion, if appropriate, but you are also expected to conduct a type of statistical test and discuss your findings, inferences, and conclusions from this test.
