ORGANISATIONAL CHANGE PROBLEM 831

Analysis of an organisational change problem, Part 2

The purpose of the Module Project is to apply the concepts and techniques of the module to the analysis of real-world situations or problems, and to critically evaluate different approaches to addressing such problems. To aid you in this analysis and provide you with an opportunity to demonstrate the skills you will need to complete your dissertation or consultancy project, the focus of the Module Project will be the critical analysis of an organisational problem as a result of organisational change. You will complete this project in three submissions.

This project is designed to equip you with the skills needed to analyse and develop solutions to leadership challenges arising from an organisational change initiative. It gives you the opportunity to combine learning from the module with your own creativity to challenge the status quo and develop a credible environment for leading and managing change successfully.

Scenario:

Imagine that you have been appointed as an external change management consultant to an organisation that you currently work in or, alternatively, an organisation you are familiar with, perhaps through your previous employment or business dealings. Your task is to report to the CEO with an action plan and recommendations for leading and managing the change successfully. The plan must be both engaging and offer realistic ideas for implementation.
To prepare for this Assignment:

Review the scenario above and reflect on the literature and readings on leading change, focusing on best practices and methodologies for implementing change successfully in organisations.
Identify an organisational change to address, such as realignment or re-organisation as a result of a new product, service or technological initiative.
By Wednesday (Day 7) submit an approximately 1,000-word proposal in which you do the following:

Provide an analysis of the factors that are contributing to the organisational change problem and a preliminary diagnosis to identify the organisational change problem and challenges.
Use your knowledge and experiences of your organisation’s business practices and culture to consider the impact of the change on all stakeholders. Compare and contrast the interests, rights and values of all parties involved in the issue to identify conflicts that exist. Finally, consider any ethical issues that emerge as a result of the change. Organisational theories and how they relate to the topic or issue of interest should also be applied.
