would you have made those choices if you had the opportunity to choose again?

For this case study, you will work on contract negotiations process that is at potential impasse. The union and management organizing teams have been negotiating for several months, and the deadline for the end of the contract is nearing. You have been brought in as a mediator to assist management and the union to end the impasse and reach a tentative draft collective bargaining agreement.
Choose a course of action from the options given. Make the best choices you can to encourage a tentative agreement.
Choices:
1.Recommend that management begins preperations to initiate a lockout of the employees so that they can control production and eliminate waste.
2.Recommend that union leaders and management meet with you individually to discuss the issues and the need to return to negotiations as quickly as possible.
3.Recommend the union begin plans to strike so that they can control the supply of labor and prevent management from building up an inventory and initiating a lockout.
Continue choosing courses of action as each reaction from the union develops until you reach the end of the interactive exercise. Your various outcomes along the way will be dependent upon the choices that you make.

Write a three to four page paper (double spaced) regarding the experience as follows:

Summarize the choices that you made and the outcomes that resulted from those choices. Indicate why you made the choices you did. Was a settlement reached?

Discuss the union s reactions to your choices and whether or not they were what you expected. Knowing the eventual outcomes, would you have made those choices if you had the opportunity to choose again? Why or why not?

Discuss management s reactions to your choices and whether or not they were what you expected. Knowing the eventual outcomes, would you have made those choices if you had the opportunity to choose again? Why or why not?

Support your responses by citing appropriate laws and regulations, and explaining why they are relevant.

Cite appropriate examples and references from texts, Web sites, other references, or personal experience, including any relevant cases, rulings, or administrative dictates.
