Learning from others

I havent always been the brightest and most superb person. I was never a good student until my first semester of college. I was a very stubborn and insubordinate child with my parents. It took a whole summer for me to think through what I was doing with my life. That is when I decided to switch over to a new beginning. Ever since I have always given my 120% on any assignment or task. I refuse to ever give up no matter how big the burden ,because at the end of darkness there is always light.

I am a pakistani kid and an Ahmadi muslim. Being an Ahmadi has really shaped me into who I am today. It has built me from the ground up. I have been discriminated too many times by my own race and even by the Muslim community. In Pakistani Law I am not considered a muslim and therefore am very ill treated. I have been removed and thrown out of numerous “peaceful” mosques and even islamic schools based on narrow minded belief that declares me a non muslim. However, I don’t let things like these break me down but rather make me stronger. Make me a better built person than the previous day.

I am very thankful for where I am today, but I have been through the troubles. My dad had to pawn his wedding watch and my mom had to pawn her wedding ring to put food on the table. That was probably my worst memory. I find this as a unique experience that shows you shouldn’t take anything for granted. Be thankful for what you have and strive to be a better person because of it.
