You are a product manager working for a large organization with offices across the US. Your group needs to hire another product manager for the Boston office. Along with some of your peers, you have interviewed a few people for this position. One person is being recommended by some of your peers. You feel strongly that this person is NOT qualified for the job. In fact, you are sure that hiring this person is just going to put more work on you as they clearly are not capable of doing the job. However, your peers really like this person and think he will do a great job. You are surprised that your views are so different from your colleagues. A number of times, you have tried to carefully express your concerns about this individual to a few different people. You recently learned from another colleague that he worked with this person at a different organization. Your colleague agrees with your assessment of this individual and also feels that this would be a very poor hiring decision. The human resource manager would like to make a decision quickly as this position has been vacant for a number of weeks. You have a meeting today with one of your co-workers who would like to hire this individual. You would like to have the opportunity to discuss your concerns about this individual with your co-worker. What will you say and how will you get your colleagues to understand your perspective?
