Ancient history: synopsis

THE RISE Of THE ACHAEMENID EMPIRE:
Assess the factors and preceding results of the rise of The Achaemenid Empire.

I chose the topic of The Achaemenid Empire; and will assess the factors which led to the success and rise of The Achaemenid Empire. The reason I chose this topic was due to the fact that many other people would be doing more “conventional” topics such as the Western Roman Empire and Ancient Egypt. It occurred to me as that though being a popular topic, The Achaemenid Empire was something that I would be able to extensively research, assess and explain the factors which led to its rise and how it affected the continent; politically, financially, culturally and physically.

I plan to explain how the Achaemenid’s lifestyle and culture changed to accommodate their rising power and wealth, how it changed the course of history in Iran and how the remains of their culture is still reminiscent in the modern-day world.

• Historical figures
• Geographical location
• Major Events
• Battles
• And The Persian Wars

To gain the best and most accurate information and to help me answer the inquiry question, a variety of sources will be used. These include:

• Websites off the internet
• Books
• Textbooks

By the end of the essay I hope to establish a clearer understanding of the reasons behind the events and actions of the Achaemenid Empire, and how the Empire established itself through these circumstances through that period of time in history. I hope to reach a conclusion which provides both insight and an answer formed from research to the inquiry question formed.
