Healing Hospital: A Daring Paradigm
Read all readings for this module and research other articles or websites associated with the healing hospital paradigm. As you read, consider how this paradigm might influence your philosophy of caregiving. Any hospital with a healing component to its mission can be used as a resource.
Write an essay of 1,000-1,250 words in which you address the following:
1. Describe the components of healing hospitals and their relationship to spirituality.
2. What are the challenges of creating a healing environment in light of the barriers and complexities of the hospital environment?
3. Include at least one biblical passage or parable that you believe supports the concept of a healing hospital and provide rationale for your selection.
Prepare this assignment according to the APA guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

The basic assignment requirements for Module 1, per syllabus:
For the (specific) 3 components of healing hospital and their relationship to spirituality, you want to
* identify them and then describe them. These can be found in Module 1 readings (3rd web link listing) and the lecture notes (Healing Hospitals). Go to Resources>Syllabus>Topic Material
* then you want to expand on this basic knowledge with input from your research.
* make sure you have defined “Spirituality”.
* how do each of the components connect to a patient’s spiritual well-being; address spirituality�s relationship to each individual component
As for the challenges, here is some fodder for thought:
* what �traditional�, institutional obstacles may have to be overcome?
* what might be some arguments against a HH culture? Why it �just won�t work.�
* how would you counter those �excuses�? how might the HH culture prevail, despite the challenges? (Ex., Baptist Hospital in Nashville; Mercy Gilbert in Arizona)
