Examine local, state, and national compliance standards for security programs, including global resources. Directions A large oil company is building a new main office and oil refinery station on the east coast of Texas; they are also building 4 off­shore oil platforms that will house 170 employees 50 miles due east of the land offices. You have been hired by this company to build a PPS system (Physical Protection System) that will provide the entire physical security mechanism for this company. Step One: What are the potential and unforeseen threats that this company may experience? Here are some things to think about before you design your chart: A. You will first research oil refinery companies and learn what they do on a daily basis. B. Define potential physical threats to the oil refinery operations (terrorism? Oil spills?) C. Identify such targets and describe the threat and potential capabilities of such threats. How could this company be attacked? Step Two: Design a physical security chart that shows the layout of the company, directions (N, S, E, and W), and create layers of security using the elements discussed in previous chapters such as: Lighting, barriers, fences, security officer points, law enforcement and emergency points, disaster meeting areas, water and land patrol; including cameras, alarms and surveillance technology. Where will you place these items? Step Three: In a minimum of one page, describe the pros, cons, and potential risks of your design. Describe how your design will successfully secure this new company, and also explain a brief action plan if someone, or something were to breach your security plan. This assignment must use proper sentence structure, spelling, and grammar, and must be submitted in the proper APA format.
