The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the evolution of the exclusionary rule from its beginnings to its current state. First, provide a working definition of the exclusionary rule. Then, using key court cases, discuss how the exclusionary rule has evolved over time and where it currently stands today. Then, examine both the pros and cons of the exclusionary rule, as well as any possible exceptions that are constitutionally valid.
