General overview of research project
This research project aims to give you training in how to design, conduct and analyse a survey which seeks to obtain data relevant for (aim of this research) understanding the role of problems in the family environment and aspects of the self in influencing the development of eating disorders. We are focusing on how one aspect of parenting behaviour, invalidation by mothers and fathers, may contribute to views of self and ultimately to disordered eating. By understanding the extent to which emotional invalidation during childhood and adolescence by either parent might have contributed to negative self- conceptions and eating disordered behaviour, intervention programs may be better designed to address these issues.
