Component 1 – The Assignment Brief

The purpose of the assignment is to apply some of your learning about management to a management or organisational situation known to you, enabling you to better understand it and therefore be better placed to work more effectively in or with that situation – sense making. The subject matter of your presentation at your action learning set will be a significant focus of this assignment.

Critically analyse one or more of your current management responsibilities or organisational concerns in light of the present requirements and challenges of management in your sector and your professional values. Include some reflection on the subject matter you presented at your action learning set and the learning you gained from it to provide some of the illustration of issues arising for you and your organisation.

Your sector’ refers to the work setting or context such as community development, youth work, mental health service, NGOs, youth offending etc. You have 3500 words. Include as appendices all the material used for the ALS presentation such as a report or slides. These are not included in that word count.
