After reading the different articles i found that in the globalization age the importance of intercultural competence in teaching and learning can not be denied. I found interesting reading on two concept intercultural understanding and intercultural competence and i am going to reflect on these two key concept.Actually intercultural competency depends on intercultural understanding. Cognitive and affective domain are two concept which include in intercultural understanding. cognitive aspect provide knowledge about differences and similarities of some one’s own culture as well as others cultures ( Hill, 2006). affective domain leads to the intercultural sensitivity and it develops one’s experience about intercultural differences. intercultural understand can be gained by communicate with people of different cultures.

intercultural communication competence may be defined as communication between groups or individual of different linguistic and culture groups (Parry, southwell, 2011). In this global age, world become a small village. people from developing countries move to developed countries for higher education, business and for a bright future. in this case it is very important to understand the people of different culture and learn how to communicate with them in effective way.Education play a vital role in understand, dialogue, tolerance and respect between the different culture groups.( Cited in UNESCO guidelines)

In the era of globalization education, a big number of students from across the world come to foreign countries to get higher education. it is very important for the students to have knowledge and skill about the country’s culture and language.today English is recognise as a global language, but unfortunately, in Indian public school, students start learn English from sixth standard and schools do not provide world class curriculum for their students. This is the big reason that Indian students face education challenges in foreign countries. For example in university of Canberra lots of Indian students doing their higher education and they accept difficult impact of English as a second language on their learning.Linguistic problem hinders their learning.because of differences in educational backgrounds Indian students feel difficulties in education in western countries. educational background are differences because Asian education based on theoretical while western education mostly practical and technological based.Similarly Asian students give more emphasis on rote learning and on the other hand in English countries learning based on understanding.(Rizvi,2005) it is no doubt that international students familiar with western culture and language with time but they feel difficulties in initially stage.

To understand intercultural education, first it need to understand the environment as whole( UNESCO guidelines) and also learn teaching strategies, curriculum ,school life and students intercommunication because it is not easy task to add intercultural education in regular curriculum.
