In creating their characters, building their worlds, and exploring their themes, comics artists reach beyond the present moment of their respective stories and employ memory, the dream, the fantasy, the drug-altered state, and so on. What similar and/or different role does one or more of these states play for Barry and Ware’s characters or in Barry and Ware’s work?
