This comparative study will show that the three artists: Andy Warhol, Cindy Sherman and Barba Lubliner’s selected work all share the common theme of providing commentary on modern society. The primary focus of this investigation will be three pieces of art, one by each artist respectively. The purpose of this investigation is to interpret, analyze, as well as compare and contrast works of art from the different artists from varying time periods. Warhol and Sherman are renowned artists from the twentieth century, while Lubliner is a more up and coming twenty first century artist. The pieces of focus include: “Marilyn”, 1967. by Andy Warhol, “Untitled Film Still #14”, 1978. by Cindy Sherman and “Egg rider”, 2001. by Barbara Lubliner. Each artist will be introduced, followed by analysis of the artwork and finally interrelated comparisons will be made.
