A crystalliser process is used to recover sucrose from a concentrate. The concentrate has 85% sucrose and 1% other inert soluble solids. After cooling, some of the sucrose crystallises out and is separated from the remaining solution (called mother liquor) by centrifuge. The mother liquor stream contains 60% dissolved sucrose and the crystal stream contains 20% of entrained mother liquor. Calculate the masses and concentrations of the crystal and mother liquor products if a batch of 100kg is processed.
