Select ONE option only. Write a maximum of two pages, single spaced, double spaced between

paragraphs. Put your full name, date and course name as the header (not on the title page). Number the

second page, if more than one page. For font size, use Times Roman 11 or 12 for text and 14 for headings.

Have a title sheet with your name and the name of your company, and the date of submission. Work must

be in a properly labeled folder as shown in the syllabus. Cite all sources you used to gather your

information at the bottom of your work on the last page, and title them under References. A separate

page is not necessary for this work.

OPTION 1
Select an existing company (not a made-up one) that you would like to work for, for your dream job, once you begin your career after completing your formal education. Discuss the reasons for your selection. Try to associate the things you’ve learned in this BUS 1 course with what the company is all about, and has to offer. Look at its management policies, growth, market share, stocks (Earning Per Share), organizational hierarchy, marketing strategies―including promotion, distribution and pricing―profit history, social responsibility, ethical standards, perks, and anything else as they relate to the course material covered so far, or will be this semester.

OPTION 2
If you don’t have such a company in mind, but would like to work on your existing, or potential business, that’s okay, too. Make sure to discuss how many factors of this business closely relate to course material as discussed in Option 1. Give clear examples.

OPTION 3
If the above two options don’t work for you, research a company that has been in the news for the last six months, and talk about what things about this company closely relate to course material as discussed in Option 1.

The grading criteria, a total of 50 points:

1) Appearance (10 points) – properly typed folder label, proper folder―not three-ring binder or plastic envelopes; clean and sharp looking papers with no mark or stain; pages flat not curled at the corners. Report can be stapled at the top right corner of the pages. If two page-long, second page must be numbered. Do not number the title page.

2) Content (20 points) – as explained in the above directions. Emphasis should be on how the things about your company closely relate to course material―must be clear, and explain in full.

3) Reference all sources used (5 points).

4) Originality (10 points). Use your own words, don’t just copy and paste information from another writer’s work. Use limited quotes, and credit the sources. This work must be your own―not a copy of a published article on the Internet, etc.

5) Mechanics (5 points) – proper grammar and spelling as expected at college level is required. See a Business Tutor for a final review before handing in work.
