This course is an examination of how spiritual care is conceptualized and practiced in various African religious traditions and cultures. African religious traditions, described as African Diasporan Religions (ADRs), are also present in different parts of the world including the Caribbean, South and Central America and North America. BUT this examination is RESTRICTED to the African continent, but will extend to various places where these traditions are practiced. You will write a 5 page paper examining a particular practice (ex: healing, divination, ritual, etc.) and reflect on its role in the care of persons. You can use the readings, any DVD’s related to the subject, field experiences, etc. in preparing the paper. BE SURE TO PROPERLY cite sources of any quotations or lines of thoughts.
