The purpose of the Short Research Paper is to encourage the application of concepts, theories and principles covered in this course. The research paper should be a Microsoft Word document, double-spaced with 12-point font, and approximately 5-7 pages in length (and this page length does not include the title page, the bibliography or any other items like any attached tables or charts. The bibliography should include at least three sources of reference.

The research paper should focus on an economic problem, issue or topic of interest to you that will allow you to apply some of what you have learned in this course. A suggested outline for the research paper is:

I. Define the economic problem or issue and explain its relevance.
II. Analyze the economic problem or issue from a variety of perspectives educating the reader about the complexities of the problem.

III.Propose a solution (which can be an original idea or a restatement of someone else’s proposed solution), or take issue with someone else’s proposed solution.
IV.Weigh the benefits and costs associated with the proposed solution using economic analysis.
