3. The Doha Development Agenda was intended to facilitate the integration of developing countries into the world economy. In light of recent regional trade deals, critically evaluate the relevancy of the Doha Agenda to both developed and developing countries and the reasons for the failure to bring out a satisfactory conclusion.

ASSIGNMENT GUIDANCE

 

Assignment Presentation

 

Please follow the instructions below:

1. A written assignment in ESSAY format of 2500 words to be handed in on Wednesday 16th DECEMBER 2015.

 

2. The assignment must be in typed form, single sided and use 5 line spacing.

 

3. Emailed copies of assignments will NOT be accepted.

4. The assignment should also be submitted electronically on Blackboard.

5. The assignment must include a complete and authentic bibliography. If you do not provide a bibliography you will lose marks and your assignment will not be marked until one is provided. Ensure that all titles of work cited in the Bibliography are given in English.

6. The assignment must be fully referenced using the Harvard style. This means that every time you quote an author or a text or use figures and graphs taken from texts, you must indicate this by using referencing at the back of your assignment. Please note that you will be penalised for excessive quoting. Your essay should not appear as a collection of quotes but one reflecting your answer to a question. This means using references and quotes where appropriate.

 

7. An official and completed University front sheet must accompany the assignment.

8. It must be submitted on the date as stated in the course calendar. Failure to comply with this instruction, without mitigating circumstances, will result in a reduced grade.

9. Please take note of the University’s regulations with respect to dishonest means and plagiarism.

ASSIGNMENT HAND-IN

 

1. Assignments must be handed into the College of Social Science reception during Office Opening hours on the 16^th of December.

 

1. Extensions: if you need to apply for an extension because of illness or equivalent extenuating circumstances which means that you cannot hand in your assignment in on time please see your Year Tutor or Programme Leader.

 

1. Failure to comply with the above instructions, without mitigating circumstances, will result in a reduced grade or at worse a FAIL.

 

 

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

 

Credit will be given to students who relate their argument to the effects of policy on business where appropriate.

 

In assessing your work, tutors are guided by the following general criteria:

 

First class (70): Analytical throughout. Strong and thorough focus on the question. Development of own ideas based on a wide range of literature and sources that have been critically analysed and assessed. Must be properly referenced and sourced. Demonstration of ability to set answer within a broader context and use of pertinent examples where appropriate to demonstrate more general principles. A well-integrated, logically argued, internally consistent piece of work.

Upper second (sixties): Significant evidence of wider reading and clear identification of problems raised by the question. Critical discussion of most key areas of the question that makes good use of the literature.

Lower second (fifties): largely analytical in nature (the more the balance shifts towards description, the nearer to the lower end of this range will be the mark). Will cover many of the key areas but could be some omissions and some minor errors.

Third (forties): Largely descriptive, basic answers with little evidence of further reading. A broad understanding of the subject area but possibly some confusions, inconsistencies or errors.

Below forty: limited reading. Inappropriate choice of content or theory and absence of critical, analytical thought. Major errors and/or misunderstanding of assignment.
