The married couple in Fireproof lacked poor communication and poor listening skills. Poor communication and poor listening skills caused distance in their relationship in which it caused Catherine to drift off and fine attention elsewhere, because she was not receiving it at home. To keep a relationship alive and healthy I believe that is important to communicate openly with each other. It is important to communicate opening with each other, but not pointing fingers and blaming each other for the causes within the relationship in which could lead to poor communication. Communicate takes place within a system and that is what this couple lacked. Understanding and being patient with the individual you are in a relationship with; it helps to be effective with in the conversation. When Caleb endures the “The Love Dare” he starts to learn more about himself and his relationship. At first he does not seem interested in the test, but he is not doing it for himself he doing it more so for his father. The test helped Caleb become aware of his wrongs how committing to Christ could send positive results to his relationship with his wife. Recognizing his self-disclosure allowed him to make the changes he knew had to be made. Identity was revealed in Fireproof by committing himself more to Christ. He came to realization that you first have to love God and yourself in order to love someone else. Ephesians 4:2-3, Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace
